When coaching politicians, change agents, and other clients we not only work with the individuals and teams, but with the contexts and systems they are shaped by and are shaping. Those contexts and systems are both culturally specific and framed globally.
When offering sustainable coaching, we need to try to understand multiple factors, like megatrends and political flows, as well as the group dynamics, individual approaches, and the political history of green politics across many countries. Knowing the political landscape and atmosphere is not just interesting and powerful – it is essential for working effectively with these clients. They expect this level of engagement and competence from us.
This session offers an opportunity to discuss philosophical, sociological, and legal perspectives of the current political climate throughout the world. In the session we will:
• Address the meta-perspectives
• Befriend complexity
• Reflect on our own local contexts and systems.
This dynamic discussion will better prepare us to understand some of the deeper and often hidden pressures that influence our client’s decisions and public actions. It provides valuable insight into several elements of Step 2 Grasping Climate Politics of the Political Pod playbook – Climate Coaching in Politics – A Playbook on How to Cut Through the Challenges which you can download here https://www.climatecoachingalliance.org/shaping-tomorrow-playbook/.

This workshop will provide coaching support for two UK local politicians. Similar to a peer-coaching session, the politicians will explain the challenges they are facing. You will be given a chance to ask questions in support of the issues the politicians are facing.
As fairly new politicians, Georgia Taylor and Christina Coleman are trying to change the way local politics is done, but often don’t understand or agree with the rules, and the prevailing culture. Christina will explain what happened when she was Chair of Wealden District Council. Georgia will speak about her experience of working with cross-party women councillors, to encourage an increase in feminine leadership in the council.
Outcome of workshop – the politicians and the coaches/mediators/facilitators in the session will have enhanced awareness of each other’s needs and skills to offer further collaboration not just in the UK but in other cultural and political contexts.
Questions might include: What mindset do local politicians currently have, where are the stumbling blocks? How can coaching approaches unblock some of the challenges faced by local government politicians to enable them to work better together across parties?

The CCA Political Pod has been active for over two years. It has attracted scores of climate-aware, engaged, and interesting members from around the globe. Many of our members are experienced political activists in their own communities and countries. We come together monthly to share experiences, insight and ideas for future action. There is no shortage of enthusiasm and wisdom in our open conversations.
This session outlines our learnings about how to build and maintain a dynamic, relevant, and informative group where committed coaches and supporters can dive beyond their known ways of practice. We will share what we have learned along the way and how we try to stay connected with the shifting landscape in climate-conscious coaching. Moving forward in 2023 the Political Pod is taking direct action.
As a panel, we - Dr. Ruby Campbell, Diana Collett and Dr. Katarzyna Schubert-Panecka will outline and discuss our current initiatives for supporting coaches as social activists. Join us to find out how we are taking collective action to transform both the rules of the game and the practices of climate-conscious coaching.

Living in a multicultural environment—both offline and online—is everyday life for most of us, as we interact with people and organisations from different cultural, generational, religious or linguistic backgrounds. The various crises we experience—both inner and outer—seem to intensify the challenges caused by this experience, making it harder to recognise the beauty of a cross-cultural approach and diversity. In this webinar we will explore these challenges and possible ways to mediate them with particular reference to the climate crisis and intertemporal climate justice. This webinar is presented by Dr. Katarzyna Schubert-Panecka. |
